China's largest unmanned bookshop 'Abue' launched in Shenzhen

Abue,China's largest unmanned bookshop, applying technologies like facial recognition and mobile payment, opened to the public in south China's Shenzhen on July 18, 2018. The bookshop, covering an area of 178 square meters, has an intelligent book-shopping system, through which readers can precisely locate the books they want.

  There have been many 24-hour unmanned bookshops opened in Beijing, Shanghai,Hangzhou and other cities in 2018.Many of them received funding from the local governments or private investors, e.g.,Beijing government just released a policy to invest 100m yuan(11.5m pounds) on 200 brick-and-mortar bookstores in 2019,and a famous indie store named Yanjiyou just closed a 100m yuan financing round in December 2018.
